An interesting early 19th century Customs officer’s 24 bore brass barrelled flintlock holster pistol, by Barnett, 13¾” overall, half octagonal barrel 8” secured by flat barrel wedges, the breech having London proofs and engraved “Customs”; plain signed lock with roller on frizzen spring; walnut fullstock with rounded butt and brass mounts including domed butt cap and flower engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial. GWO & C (some light pitting to lock, stock chipped above lock). Note: Several branches of the Barnett family were makers to the ordnance, East India Company, Hudson Bay Company, etc. Plate 6
