A very rare large mid-19th Century George Wostenholm Bowie Knife, with profusely engraved 10" blade, with sterling silver escutcheons, and bone handle and with original scabbard, with nickel mounts, and stamped IxXL. (1)* Arguably Sheffield's finest cutler, forever associated with the IxXL Bowies of the Great American Bowie Knife Era. The blade inscribed 'The United States, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, Protected by her noble and brave Volunteers.'
