R.M.S. TITANIC: Rare photo of Third-Class passenger Johan Vilhelm Henrik Törnqvist as a child. Alongside fellow American Line employees (William Cahoone Johnson Jr., August (Alfred) Johnson, Lionel Leonard (Andrew Shannon), Alfred Carver and Thomas Storey) were given Third-Class accommodation aboard the Titanic to make the trip back to New York (ticket number 370160) where they could resume work. Also included in the lot is an original photo of Bridget Delia Henry also Third-Class. Bridget was due to travel with a friend who later cancelled, but she knew others from Athlone who would be travelling also. She boarded the Titanic at Queenstown as a Third-Class passenger (ticket number 382649 which cost £7, 15s). Whilst aboard she was acquainted with several travellers from Athlone: Bertha Mulvihill; Eugene and Margaret Daly and Michael Connaughton. Bridget Henry was lost in the sinking and her body, if recovered, was never identified. Ex-Phil Gowan collection.
