JEAN JACQUES FIEFFE, 1745 - 1749, A FRENCH BRONZE ORMOLU CARTEL WALL CLOCK
Having a classical form urn finial, torch supports and acorn mounts and striking mechanism, the circular dial having Roman and Arabic number markings and inscribed 'Fieffe De l'Observatoire s', the brass movement inscribed 'Fieffe Paris' and mask to pendulum.

N.B. Jean Jaques Fieffe was clockmaker to the Paris Observatoire obtaining some of his clock cases from the best gilded bronze foundry chasers including Jean Joseph de St Germain, 1719 - 1791, Jacques Caffieri, 1678 - 1755 and Phillipe Caffieri, 1714 - 1774.
