An Arts & Crafts Della Robbia Pottery "Dutch" vase, late 19th century, of squat baluster form with flared neck and raised rim, designed by Charles Collis and painted by Lizzie Wilkins with vine leaves on a pergola against a turquoise ground, the base with incised ship mark, number "242", full "C. Collis" signature and painted "LW" monogram, 27.5cm high (at fault)

NOTE: The "Dutch" shape appears in the Della Robbia Pottery catalogue of 1896.

More Information

The piece shows various small losses to the glazed surface, including an area to the rim 1.5cm long, two areas to the neck 2cm x 1.5cm and 2cm x 2cm, and two areas to the body, 1.5cm x 2cm and 1.5cm x 2.5cm. The piece also shows various small glazing faults, firing pits and frits and fine surface crazing throughout.
