Unusual WW1 silver coloured 35mm commemorative, Maurice Alfred Alexander Darby, Born 6th May 1894 around Phoenix over A.E.W.-F.L.J./D, reverse May God Preserve Him within wreath, scratching in reverse fields, otherwise extremely fine.
He was killed in action as a Lieutenant with 1st Bn Grenadier Guards near Neuve Chapelle on 11th March 1915. Very unusually, his body was brought back from France and he is buried in Little Ness Churchyard. With copied CWGC and De Ruvigny's Roll Of Honour. (Y)
