Alfred (Alfred Ernest Albert 1844 – 1900) Sovereign Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1893 to 1900, fourth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Autograph letter signed to General Ponsonby, 11th July 1884, H.M.S Minotaur, black-edged notepaper, two sides, 7” x 4 ¼” ‘My dear Ponsonby, you will remember my having brought the case of Lady Hall some time ago under the notice of the Queen. Please do ask again in my name. Her case is a most deserving one and her late husband’s services as servant of the Admiralty are very great’ Sold together with a document signed by 2nd Viscount Barrington, War Office, 24th October, 1760, addressed to the Colonel of Warwickshire Militia, Earl of Denbigh at Winchester, informing him that the Leicestershire Militia intends to march from Leicester on 3rd November and relieve the Warwickshire Militia on the 14th [for embodied service].
