Great Britain: Newcastle Chilled Shot Company Ltd., £5 share, 187[6], #445, black, transfer endorsed on face. A specialist manufacturer of lead shot for sporting shotguns with a nationwide series of agents. The chilled shot was generally cooled quicker than ordinary lead shot and was softer and more accurate. The molten lead was dropped from large towers so that it formed the spherical shape into water tanks below. This company was in voluntary liquidation in 1902. It appears that the business became the Abbey Improved Chilled Shot Company Ltd. EF.
