*Gladys Marguerite Baker (British, 1889-1959) - The Puritan Preacher - Oil on canvas - 59 x 49cm - 78 x 68cm framed - Royal Academy Schools label attached to the verso - Provenance: By descent in the artist's family - Baker was a London painter specialising in portraiture. She trained at Queen's College, St John's Wood Art School and Royal Academy Schools, where she won a silver medal for a composition in colour in December 1914.
