1933 (Apr 3) Houston Mount Everest Expedition, first survey flight over Everest, cover to Charles H. Hawes in Karachi franked 4a, carried on the April 3rd flight over Everest and cancelled by the circular "HOUSTON MOUNT EVEREST FLIGHT / PURNEA" handstamp in violet, dated "5 APR. 33". A recent survey recorded 48 covers with this cancel, twenty dated on 5 April. A fine cover from this historic flight, the cancel only used on mail from expedition members. Photo on Page 176.
