Bahawalpur background material

More Information

1931 petition signed in red ink by the Amir, setting out his opposition to joining a unified India.  He asserts that ?no constitution will be acceptable to me? which involves a loss of rights or autonomy of the independent states.  It demonstrates that his desire not to integrate with any other country, evident subsequent to partition, was long-held.  Folded centrally and with a tear at left, still an important historical document.  Offered with an original press photograph of the Amir, and a New Year's Greetings card of Al-Shams, one of his residences (ribbon missing)
