A LARGE KANGXI FAMILLE VERTE DISH PAINTED WITH AN EASTERN HAN DYNASTY STORY 'Genggong bai jing' 1670 AD 
KANGXI (1662 - 1722), CIRCA 1670
康熙 五彩‘耿恭拜井’大盘  清 1670
Depicting the Eastern Han court official 'Geng Gong' and with other generals standing in front of an alter table and worshipping the Well God, the underside of the dish with an unglazed channel foot rim, the base painted with underglaze blue leaf mark within a double-ring.

PROVENANCE: Formerly from a Norwegian private collection.  The story related to a time of war with the Xiongnu, during which they were beseiged for half a year, causing them to run out of water and food.

Overall good condition, with light restoration to frits and nibbles at the rim.
