Scottish silver quaich by William Gilchrist, circa 1745, traditional form, the lug handles inscribed with initials 'MM' and 'I.D', the exterior with traces of linear and radial lines simulating traditional wooden construction, on a circular foot, four makers marks and a possible indistinct date mark , 11.5cm overall, the bowl 7cm diameter, weight approx. 46.5g
Worn sharp dents. Signs of a crack to the inside bowl adjacent to one of the lug handles. This has been repaired on the exterior. Repair to the footrim. Worn decoration generally. Knocks and scrapes throughout consistent with age and use. Evidence of repairs around the flange of the foot.
