This box was used by Elizabeth Barrett Browning to send letters to Hugh Stuart Boyd, a blind Greek Scholar who lived at Ruby Cottage, Malvern Wells, a village near Hope End. Subsequently, her sister Arabella used it to store papers remaining at Wimpole Street after Elizabeth had left to marry Robert Browning.
