ANCIENT EGYPTIAN STEATITE AMULET, PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 332 - 30 B.C.
This Egyptian steatite amulet dates back to the Ptolemaic period, 332 - 30 B.C., and stands 6 cm in height. Steatite, was commonly used by the Egyptians for carving intricate designs. This piece features detailed carvings on both sides, showcasing religious iconography, possibly including deities and sacred symbols. One side displays a lotus motif and figures under a temple-like structure, while the reverse features detailed hieroglyphs and additional imagery, including possible divine or royal figures. It would have likely been worn as an amulet for protection or to invoke blessings from the gods.
