A Chinese famille rose 'Four elements' teapot and cover, Qianlong

L.: 17 cm - H.: 11,5 cm



Representing the element 'Earth', this teapot is part of a small group of wares which are all dated ca. 1740-1745.
They are designed after a series of paintings representing 'The Four Elements' by Francesco Albani (1578-1660) which were commissioned by Cardinal Maurice of Savoy and are now in the Turin Gallery.
