ALBUM, containing Naval, Military and medical appointments relating to Capt. Benjamin Marlow and his descendants (mostly of the same name); with other related documents. Principal contents include: Two documents on vellum appointing Capt. Marlow as captain of the Dolphin, l Feb., 1757; and Prince, 18 Feb., 1763; 10 documents signed by George III with other signatories including Lord Anson, Earl Temple, Marquess Townshend, Henry Seymour Conway, the Dukes of Portland and Richmond, William Pitt the younger; and 4 signed by Queen Victoria. Apart from official appointments other subjects include admission to Trinity House as a "Younger Brother", 2 Nov., 1754; licence to take the surname of Marlow, formerly Vaughan, 9 June 1784; decorative pen and ink memorial, 1p., folio, relating to the death of Capt. Thomas Marlow of the 39th British Regiment, died 15 Oct. 1812, with sketch of the church of San Sebastian, Mexico, where he is buried; document appointing Benjamin William Marlow, surgeon, to the Legion d'Honneur, Paris 7 April l857 [following the Crimean War].
