Walter E. Spindler (1878-1940), Homage to Sarah Bernhardt, montage vignette portraits of Sarah Bernhardt and family, Old Park, Ventnor, Isle of Wight, 30th December 1890, signed with initials l.l., pen and ink, gilt and blue, 25 by 28cm, framed. Note: with three issues of the journal La Plume, Nos. 274, 276 and 279, 15th September to 1st December 1900, all Sarah Bernhardt special numbers, the first with tailpiece vignette showing and identifying the work in question, the second issue showing a photograph of Bernhardt's study with the sketch visible on the wall, (framed), a letter from the president of the Conseil Municipal de Paris, 28th may 1936, to Madame Edgar Gross, (Simone, daughter of Bernhardt's son Maurice) referring to two printed supplements produced for the opening of the Sarah Bernhardt and T Rejane Squares, two copies of the printed supplement, two later printed invitations for the official opening of a Sarah Bernhardt plaque at 56 Boulevard Pereire, Paris, 26th March 1973 in envelopes addressed to Bernard Gross and Simone Bernhardt-Gross
