Burma: Irrawaddy Flotilla Company Limited, £[840] stock certificate, 19[35], #1783, scrollwork at left, black. Originally formed in 1865 as the Irrawaddy Flotilla and Burmese Steam Navigation Co Ltd. Name changed and re-registered in Edinburgh in 1875. Head Office in Glasgow. Ran passenger and cargo services on the Irrawaddy River in Burma and by 1940 had 600 vessels, mostly paddle steamers, under its control. When the Japanese invaded during WWII the manager ordered all ships to be destroyed. GVF.
