Gustav Adolf Ast Gen. Guschi was born on August 31, 1905 in Hamburg. He began training at the Hanseatic University for Fine Arts in 1923, Hamburg (now HfBK). He became a member of the Hamburg artist group "Niederelbe" (Max Brill, Jan Laß, Hugo Ernst Schnegg, etc.) founded in 1929 and the Hamburg artist (Otto Rodewald, Erich Brill, Ivo Hauptman, Paul Henle, Fritz Flinte etc.). 1934-46 he stayed in Finland several times. In 1937, his watercolor "Still life with fruit" in the Hamburg artist was confiscated as degenerate art and later destroyed. In 1943, several hundred works were destroyed by bombing in his studio. In the war years he was friends with Gerda Evil. After the end of the war, he worked as a press artist and political text author at the Hamburg Echo and Hamburger Abendblatt. In 1969 he settled in Neu-Ulm.
