Star lot : A fabulous Victorian cranberry glass oil lamp. A particularly striking example with a cranberry glass reservoir. This includes a graduating cranberry glass shade. Supported by a metal cherub base and complete with glass chimney. In very good condition. H165cm. fabulous piece, Cranberry glass is the most expensive colour of Oil lamps as to make the colour glass blowers use real gold.
Cranberry glass is particularly difficult and expensive to make as it requires the fusion of gold in the glass blowing process to achieve the rich red tones.
