A LARGE LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH GRAND SONNERIE QUARTER CHIMING CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH ALARM having a brass moulded case inset with bevelled glass panels enclosing a 2.25" mat silvered masked porcelain dial with Roman numerals above a subsidiary alarm dial fronting an eight-day repeating movement with alarm striking the hours and quarters on two gongs with original lever escapement, chime selection lever under base. The backplate is stamped with the maker's marks "MD' above a trumpet. (18.5cm high )
