A Queen Anne/George I pewter OEWS quart domed-lidded straight-sided tankard, attributed to Wigan, circa 1715

Having a high domed lid, rams’ horn thumbpiece, hollow single-curve handle with cut-card decoration and crowned initials ‘E’ and ‘B’ just below a three-part hinge, and with boot-heel terminal, a low narrow fillet to truncated cone drum, touchmark of ’T B' (PS1373), very possibly Thomas Bankes III, Wigan (PS9601), 34.6 fl.oz., height 17.7cm
