A VICTORIAN BRASS MERRYWEATHER TYPE FIREMAN'S HELMET, with a worn leather and brass chin strap and leather lining, together with an Elizabeth II medal 'For Exemplary Fire Service' awarded to 'Fireman Henry Appleby' of Burton upon Trent fire brigade, comes with ribbon and labelled box, it is believed he joined in 1940 and retired in 1966, a black and white photograph of five firemen, a 'Manual of Firemanship' 1950 reprint, an April 1965 copy of 'A 'Fire' Commemorative Publication on the Inauguration of the new London Fire Brigade' and a copy of 'We All And Each Of Us - The Story of the Burton upon Trent Fire Brigade' by Robert Cox (6) (Condition Report: the helmet has a series of dents, creases, split and areas that have been polished through, there is also areas of solder at the top edge of the peak, the medal is in good condition, the Burton upon Trent book has water damage to the bottom edge of some pages, other items are commensurate with age and use)
