TWO FIRST WORLD WAR PAIRS TO BROTHERS IN THE DEVONSHIRE REGIMENT AND IRISH GUARDS. A Great War pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to 12491 Pte C Wright Ir Gds and a similar pair named 240503 Cpl P.J. Wright Devon R. Brothers from a Maidstone family. Mounted in a glazed frame, the medals either side of a photograph of the brothers, Colin Wright in uniform. Colin Wright's attested for service on the 9th December 1914, his address at the time was 201 Boxley Road in Maidstone, a married man of 27 years and a paper maker prior to the war he served with the 1st Battalion. His brother Percy Wright was twice wounded on the 27th December 1917 and on the 23rd August 1918 and entitled to a wound stripe on both occasions. The 1891 census records Joseph and Keturah Wright as living at 17 Randall Place in Maidstone with seven daughters and four sons. In 1891 Percy was 6 and Colin 4 years old. 35 x 55 cm.
