A LATE 18TH/ EARLY 19TH CENTURY SILVER SALVER. of shaped circular outline, with a husk and scroll border, engraved in the centre with a coat of arms* and raised on large scroll feet, unmarked, possibly Ceylonese; 14.3" (36.5cm) diameter; 37.6ozt *Arms that of Layard. Edgar Leopold Layard CMG FZS MBOU was a British diplomat and naturalist, he served as governor of Fiji from 1874-1875.
Quite worn, very whippy and thin in the centre, evidence of solder repairs throughout, 3 large splits going from the border inwards. Not good at all.
