Margaret Gambier (Lady Barham)(1730-1792) British. Self-Portrait of the Artist Holding a Palette and Brushes, Oil on canvas, with accompanying notes, 26" x 22" (66 x 55.8cm). This is believed to be one of two versions done by the artist. It has been suggested previously that it is a self portrait of Diana Noel Barham (nee Middleton)(1762-1823), Margaret Gambier's and Sir Charles Middleton's daughter. Margaret was a known artist and played a crucial role in the abolition of the slave trade.
