A late 19c French brass desk clock in the form of a large carriage clock with multiple functions. The large rectangular case has a Greek key carrying handle, dentil moulding bands above and below the dial and a stepped base. The 10cm diam. dial has a cream enamel chapter ring with Arabic numerals and a visible lever escapement in the dial centre. The top of the case houses a circular dial comprising a curved thermometer with Fahrenheit and Reaumur scales and a central compass. the circular clock movement rack strikes on a gong. The clock stands 26cm tall (handle raised).
The case is in good undamaged condition as are the dials and glasses. The thermometer and compass seem to work. The clock escapement requires some adjustment to make it run.
