HMS Association, Isles of Scilly 1707 A 19.4lbs deep-sea sounding lead, used on board to determine the depth of the water, length 37cm, together with a lead ingot and a plumbob-shaped lead weight. On the 22nd of October 1707, a fleet of four Royal Navy Ships, HMS Association, HMS Eagle, HMS Romney and HMS Firebrand were wrecked off the Western Rocks, Isles of Scilly, Cornwall. Over 1600 men were lost, including the man in charge of all four ships, Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell.
