James Greene, London a mahogany pagoda top longcase clock having an eight-day duration, five-pillar movement striking the hours on a bell, with a pair of brass bound weights, the twelve-inch break-arch brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and Arabic five-minute outer markings, the matted centre with a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and silvered plaque engraved with the makers name James Greene, London, with cast-brass c-scroll spandrels to the four corners, the arch with a silvered boss with a hand setting to allow for strike/silent, the mahogany case with brass inset to the fluted hood columns, flame finials to the pagoda top and a raised panel to the base, all standing on a double plinth, height 236cm. Notes: James Greene is recorded as having been apprenticed in 1736 and then working in London from 1747 until at least 1777.
