The TVR Chimaera is a two-seater convertible sports car manufactured between 1992 and 2003. The name was derived from Chimera, the monstrous creature of Greek mythology, which was made of the parts of multiple animals. The car used the same backbone chassis as the Griffith and used the same derivatives of the Rover V8 engine. The Chimaera was intended to be the long distance tourer of the range and as such was longer, more spacious and had slightly softer suspension than its sister car. The suspension consisted of all round independent, unequal-length double wishbones and coil over gas dampers assisted by anti-roll bars. The front disc brakes were 10 in diameter and ventilated. The rear disc brakes were 10.7 in in diameter. Both sets were servo assisted with front/rear split dual circuits. There was a cable-operated hand brake for the rear wheels. Steering was optionally power-assisted and worked via rack and pinion with adjustable steering column.
This is a 1999 TVR Chimaera 400 V8 with just 60k miles from new, and with Full Service History. This is a lovely condition car in the classic combination of Starmist Mica Blue, Magnolia Leather interior and black hood. Its had the all important outrigger replacement that all these cars need at some point during their lives and because its done 60k miles its had regular use and therefore regular servicing to keep it in top condition, the Service History boasts 13 stamps mainly from TVR specialist garages and it has been serviced at the regular 6k mile intervals that TVR recommend, and most recently at 60k miles in August last year. The overall condition of the car is said to be really good, paintwork is nice and the interior is really clean. Roof is in overall very good condition, but could do with the Velcro parts by the doors re-stitching to make perfect. Some minor scratches here and there and a few minor stone chips at the front. Because its had regular use and regular servicing everything works and it drives really well and handles as it should, TVRs don't live well with sitting idle for long periods so with this one you won't get some of the reliability issues you get with some of the lower mileage cars which tend to have been left for long periods without use or servicing. So its recently serviced and MOT'd until the end of July, its ready to go now and be used this coming Spring so grab yourself an early season bargain!
