A good George IV mahogany Scottish provincial Jeroboam coaster, by Mein of Kelso, the draft turned centre within a bold gadrooned border and shaped sides, on three leather covered brass barrel casters, makers label and stamped 'MEIN KELSO 29475', 23cm in diameter
James Mein was one of the finest cabinet makers in the Scottish borders, working in Kelso from 1784 until his death in 1830. Amongst his patrons were the Dukes of Roxburghe at Floors Castle and the Earl of Haddington at Mellerstain.
