Niekerk trained at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, followed by The Slade in London. She was a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, a Royal West of England Academician, an Honorary Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and also Chairman of the Society of Wood Engravers between 1995-1998. This engraving depicts a landscape scene of Nant Pasgan Bach farmhouse in Wales.
