1899 QSA 5 clasps Cape Colony, OFS, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 and KGV Territorial Force Efficiency Medal to 1031 Sjt A.E. Stafford Leic Yeo (28088 Pte A. Stafford 65th Coy Imp Yeo on QSA) light contact marks to edges, about very fine, modern swing mounted. Albert Edward Stafford died of wounds with 1/1st Leicester Yeomanry on 30th May 1915 and is commemorated at Leicester (Welford Road) Cemetery.
With 6 copied pages of Impl Yeo service record, MIC, TFEM card, hospital casualty list and Yeomanry Casualty roll, he was born in Leicester, enlisted in Imp Yeo 20/2/01, served South Africa 16/3/01 to 28/7/02, discharged 5/8/02, evacuated by Hospital Ship St David with GSW face May 1915. With copied newspaper article stating he died at Bagthorpe Hospital, Nottingham, and he had suffered no fewer than 50 wounds in the Ypres battle, caused chiefly by shrapnel. While in hospital he had an arm amputated. This confirms he served in the Boer war and issued QSA with 5 clasps. (R)
