Guy Taplin (British, b.1939), a carved and painted wood figure of a pintail duck with glass inset eyes, 52cm long
Some of the painted decoration looks to have been rubbed down to the bare timber, a little scratching near the tail and across the back. Apparently unsigned, but understood to be by Taplin, having been owned by the vendor for several decades.
