Revolver, a scarce Colt 3rd Model Dragoon percussion, revolver SN:13907. Frame marked "Colts Patent Barrel 7.5". The 3rd Model Dragoon is differentiated from the 1st and 2nd Models by the round trigger guard (as apposed to the Square back trigger guard) and square stops, Calibre .44. Part Octagonal, part round barrel, top flat stamped "Address Saml Colt New York City". Matching Serial numbers to trigger guard, back strap, frame, barrel section and wedge. Rammer marked 'G355'. Excellent one piece walnut grips. Manufactured from 1851-1861. Production numbers put at approx 10,500. A popular frontier weapon, especially in Texas and during the Civil War. Crisp action with tight lock up, all in VGWO. Surface wear overall. These large and heavy 4Lbs revolvers were carried in saddle holster. No licence required, obsolete calibre
