A George III silver tea caddy, of oval form, decorated classical scenes, crested and inscribed, London 1782, 14.2 ozt, 14.5 cm high (overhandle)
Cover crested and with small indentions caused by the ring handle, the inside with lion passant and maker’s mark, both rubbed. Does not close flush without pressure. No key.
Both classical scenes are rubbed but the lion crest (as on the cover) visible on the palette. Couple of shallow dents either side of the palette scene.
The base inscribed Sophia and with full hallmarks, maker’s mark AFSG. Base heavily scratched and slight dent in footring.
