A late Victorian gem-set butterfly brooch, consisting of a circular-cut chrysoberyl thorax and an emerald-set abdomen, wings and eyes have been encrusted with old-cut diamonds, rubies, topazes and amethysts, in a closed-back mount fitted with a tube hinged pin and C-catch to verso, unmarked metal testing 14ct, 3.8 cm wide, 8.5 grams.
