Georgian needlework sampler, worked by Ann Pitcher, Aged 7 Years November 1815, under glass within a burr frame, 31 x 37cm
The embroidered threads have no obvious damage, other than some age related discolouration, but on close inspection some areas seem to have embedded brown specks of something. Under a magnifying glass it does seem to be dirt rather than insects. The backing fabric has some holes. The piece has discoloured with age, but evenly, with no obvious watermarks.
The interior edge of the frame is flaking away, with the finish missing in some areas.
