Note The above competition was inaugurated in 1973 by USPGA for Professional Golfers from both USA and Great Britain and Northern Ireland who derived their income mainly from the retail side of the business. It was originally played annually but eventually became bi-annual tournament like the Ryder Cup but still with the same competitive edge and importance by the players who have to go through the same qualifying route as the Ryder Cup and forcefully competed for. Tour players are ineligible.
