A 1787 gold George III Guinea coin. The 22ct gold Spade Guinea coin, dated 1787, having the fifth laureate head facing right to the obverse and a spade shaped crowned quartered shield of arms representing the King of Great Britain, France, Ireland, Duke of Brunswick and Luneburg to the reverse. This Guinea marking the first year of the fifth laureate head design, which came to an end in 1799. Coin measures 2cm x 2cm. Weight (inc bale) 4.2g.
