A near-mint condition Kennkarte Jewish German Identity Card issued to Lena 'Sara' Flieg aged 15 (born 10th April 1924 in Chemnitz) of Siegmar Schönau, a subcamp of Flossenbürg in the Chemnitz area in Germany. The identity card was issued on 31st January 1939 and it was valid until 31st January 1944. The fate of Lena 'Sara' Flieg is not known.
Under the 'Revoked German Citizenship and Property Seizures 1933-1945' Lena lost her German citizenship, a direct result of being a Jew.
Siegmar Schönau was at the Wanderer-Werke buildings and was established at the end of August 1944 and operated until 10th December 1944 when the prisoners, together with guards, were transferred to the Hohenstein-Ernstthal subcamp.
The prisoners at Siegmar Schönau were quartered in a barracks compound that was fenced in and separated from POWs and civilian forced laborers and those imprisoned were expected to be involved in the manufacturing of tank engines however; the factory was destroyed by bombs on September 11, 1944, and the prisoners were forced to perform clearing work until being transferred.
This ID is in amazing condition for its age.
