CHINA/HONG KONG COMBINATION COVER REGISTERED FROM WUCHOW WITH BOXED "I.P.O." TIE-PRINT; Attractive 9 Apr. 1900 env. Registered from Wuchow ("H. Schwiger, I.M. Customs" sender's name on reverse; he worked as a "1st-Class Tide-waiter" for the Customs service at various Treaty Ports from 1882 to 1903) to J. Maus in Germany, where it was initially Missent to Baden Baden (cds on reverse) en route to Lichtenthal. It was franked with China 30c + 5c (2; different shades) all tied by very fine small bilingual "WUCHOW" cds's, with scarce matching very fine large "R" alongside; it also has a HK 20c on 30c Vertical Pair tied by a mainly very fine rare Wuchow boxed "I.P.O." tie-print and fine HK cds (12 Apr.), with German arrival backstamps.
