A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY GROUP OF FOUR AND MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO THE MERCANTILE MARINE. A group of four Great War medals comprising 1914-15 Star named to Engr E. Witcomb M.F.A., War Medal similarly named, Mercantile Marine Medal named to Ernest A. Witcomb, Victory Medal similarly named, Memorial plaque to Ernest Adolphus Witcomb. Born in West Ham, London, son to Thomas and Sarah of 27 Wyndham Road, Upton Park Essex. He died on the 8th June 1917 when the S.S. Huntstrick was torpedoed by U-Boat 39 in the Mediterranean, he was 21 years old. He is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial in London. Mounted for display with copied research.
