Attributed to James Northcote (1746-1831) British. Portrait of Richard Hall Clarke, Oil on canvas, In a fine carved giltwood frame, 29.25" x 24.25" (74.3 x 61.6cm), and the companion piece, Mary Clarke, a pair (2). Notes: Richard Hall Clarke was the surviving son of Richard Clarke and Mary of Bridwel, born 4th November 1750. He married Mary, daughter of John Were, and granddaughter of Thomas Were. at Halberton Church on 18th November 1773. He died 6th November 1821, buried at Halberton 17th November. Mary was the only child and heiress of John Were of Burrington, Western Peverell. She was baptised 8th January 1758. She died 7th December 1844
