A pair of Khmer bronze ornaments showing dancing Apsaras in Bayon-style, Cambodia, Angkor period, 13th C.

H.: 25 cm (the sculptures)
H.: 33 cm (incl. stand)



The certificate by Patrick Dupont mentions that these ornaments are palanquin (carrying chair) finials, rather than ornaments for chariots or ceremonial vehicles, due to the playful representation of the dancing Apsaras, embracing the Naga.



Provenance:
- The collection of Mr. and Mrs. S., Gent, Belgium.
- Acquired from Patrick Dupont, Brussels, in December 2012, accompanied by his certificate.
