A c.1900 Fan of Fontange Form, the sticks of bone, carved, pierced, shaped and gilded, mounted with a double silk leaf and painted with a gentleman out for a stroll, dressed in a fine lilac coat with gold embroidery over his raspberry-coloured breeches, his tricorn hat and cane emphasising his status, encountering a couple of young ladies of lower social status, one with a flower basket, engaging them in conversation. The background and reserves show a stone wall and arbour covered in flowers, and formal flower baskets, gold scrolling and pink floral wreaths. The verso is plain cream. Signed to the top left, possibly E. Morlin. Contained in a card fan box with sticker of a young lady on the lid exterior,
