First day of the Battle of the Somme casualty's 1914-15 Star trio to 365 Sjt R.S. Murphy 5-Lond R. (Pte on Star) extremely fine or better with both boxes of issue, 2 condolence transmittal slips and envelopes of issue addressed to Mrs D. Murphy, 26 Digby Road, Finsbury Park. Robert Sidney Murphy (300362) was killed in action on 1st July 1916 during the battalion's attack on Gommecourt and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. With copied CWGC, Soldiers Died and MIC.
