NOTE: This limited edition will be supplied with a signed certificate of authenticity (signed by the "Master Printer") and a replacement valuation for £1800 along with details on the image (free of charge) The original work resulted from a composite representation of several gasoline stations seen by the artist. The light in this painting, both natural and artificial, gives the scene of a gas station and its lone attendant at dusk an underlying sense of drama. Hopper's aim was 'the most exact transcription possible of my most intimate impressions of nature'. In this particular example, the loneliness of an American country road. The image remains memorable long after it was produced because the artist in his honest presentation of the American scene, does not insist upon what the beholder shall feel. The viewer can use their imagination and come to their own individual conclusions. H: 104cm W: 136cm D: 4cm
