£500 - £700
A life sized representation of a Peregrine Falcon in mahogany, overlaid with copper, the basic shape of the bird is carved and varnished, then, the individual pieces of copper are cut, filed, sanded, and fixed in place, the eyes are of blown glass, the bird is supported on a steel rod fixed into a piece of varnished yew, which is, in turn, cast into a heavy reinforced concrete base for stability. The whole project took around 190 - 200 hours to complete. The piece is signed on one of the talk feathers. The bird itself is not yet permanently fixed to the support, for ease of transport.
When the final siting is decided, a small amount of good quality epoxy resin (possibly araldite) should be used to finally fix it in place.
